
Laredo heroes take the Recognition Roadtrip Bottle to visit the Gateway to the Americas International Bridge on March 3, 2022. This Bridge, along with the World Trade Bridge, is one of four vehicular bridges that connect the United States and Mexico over the Rio Grande. Originally constructed in the 1800’s, floods have destroyed it on three occasions. Today’s bridge was constructed in 1954 and remains operational.

Laredo heroes visit La Posada Hotel with the Recognition Roadtrip Bottle on March 3, 2022. The historical hotel has long been the cultural and social center of Laredo, where it has remained on the banks of the Rio Grande since the 19th century. La Posada Hotel was built around several historical buildings, including the former Capitol of the Republic of the Rio Grande, a jail and the old Laredo High School!

The Recognition Roadtrip Bottle at the Texas A&M International University Planetarium on March 3, 2022. While the primary mission of the Planetarium is to educate its visitors, it also offers entertainment shows such as immersive animations in Pink Floyd’s “Dark Side of the Moon,” “The Wall,” and “Led Zeppelin,” as well as the holiday seasonal show, “Let it Snow.”

Opened to the public in 2005, the Planetarium is one of the most sophisticated in the state of Texas. The 4k digital dome projection system has two digital projectors that display a 360˚ view from any part of the universe.

Laredo heroes with the Recognition Roadtrip Bottle at the San Agustin Cathedral on March 3, 2022. Located in downtown Laredo, San Agustin Cathedral traces its foundation to as early as 1755, the era of Laredo founder Don Tomas Sanchez and the group of Spanish Families that helped settle the city.

Laredo heroes welcome the Recognition Roadtrip Bottle to their facility on March 3, 2022. Did you know that Laredo became part of its own independent country alongside three Mexican states in 1840? This country was known as the Republic of the Rio Grande, and marks the seventh flag that has flown over Laredo (one more flag than the state of Texas!). Today, the city is home to nearly 260,000 people.

Laredo heroes and the Recognition Roadtrip Bottle visit the World Trade Bridge on March 3, 2022. This eight-lane, $128 million bridge was constructed in April 2020 to handle the rapid growth of commercial truck traffic between Mexico and the United States. Today, it is the No. 1 land border crossing in the U.S., with 4,000 to 6,000 commercial trucks crossing daily.
